A Healthier Lifestyle through Perseverance

Once you have a strong understanding for what your body needs from nutrition, then you’ll be able to alter your base diet and eventually the bad stuff you ate becomes an after thought. As with the 5F’s to Avoid, here are the five things that you need to embrace. It is the understanding of what our bodies need and how it breaks down the food we ingest, that will ultimately make a healthier person. The 5F’s to embrace in your life’s diet.

Fat. The simplest and most controversial of the five is fat. Everyone who hears ‘Fat’ instinctively believes that fat is bad. The nutritional truth is that fat should not only be an important part of your diet, it should be the key part of your diet. About 80% of your caloric intake should come from fat. Your second-best fats come from you selectively ingesting, eating raw, plant-based fats like avocado, olives, raw walnuts, and raw coconut. Learn More.

Fiber is golden. Fiber is the base material of how your gastrointestinal metabolic physiology cleans itself out including the liver, gall bladder and gut. We need to eat probably 50 to 60 grams of fiber plus a day. Cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, celery, lettuce and all of these low carbohydrate, high fiber, high phytonutrient foods are so important to flush through our body. Ferments in your diet are the bacteria that we’ve done away with. Fermented foods are so important because they encourage your body to grow the appropriate bacteria we need in our gut. Ferments include foods like grandma’s sauerkraut, kimchi, well-done pickles and kefir.  If you eat a lot of carbohydrates and a lot of grains, the good bacteria loves to feed on fiber. Learn More.

Fun is because your body is designed to be active. It’s designed to be dynamic. It’s designed to interact with people in all the different ways.  Run. Play. Throw the ball. Dance. Climb. Hike. Swim. Have some fun. Fun allows you to connect with your own physiology. When we begin to get active, our body begins to give its own feedback about what it needs. Having fun encourages this process so that you can have more fun. Learn More.
